Description: Chicken CD44 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on many cell types including B cells, most T cells, monocytes, and some epithelial cells. CD44 primarily functions as an adhesion molecule. It has been implicated in various processes such as hematopoiesis, lymphocyte homing, leukocyte activation, tumor metastasis, and development. The monoclonal antibody AV6 also reacts with turkey peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

Description: CD21, also known as complement receptor 2, is expressed on all mature circulating B lymphocytes but not on T lymphocytes or natural killer cells. Low density CD21 has also been reported on granulocytes and monocytes. The monoclonal antibody BB6-11C9.6 stains the following percentages of surface immunoglobulin (sIg) positive cells in porcine lymphoid tissues - 92-96% in peripheral blood, 74-98% in mesenteric lymph nodes, 97-100% in ileal Peyer’s patches (ILPP), 93-97% in spleen, and 0% in thymus. The antibody does not stain B cells in cord blood or spleen from pig fetuses (105 days gestation).

Description: ZAP-70 is a protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) with the primary role of catalyzing the phosphorylation of tyrosine residues in cellular proteins, and thus, contributes significantly to the initiation of cell signaling. ZAP-70 is normally expressed on T cell and NK cells.

Description: The CD45 antigen is an essential regulator of leukocyte activation and development and is now known to be a protein tyrosine phosphatase, e.g., CD45 is able to dephosphorylate the Src family of protein kinases. This activity is now known to be required for signal transduction induced by T and B cell antigen receptor engagement, cytokine signaling, and Fc receptor stimulation. The functional state of CD45 also has a pronounced effect on lymphocyte development. CD45 exists in multiple forms, such as the restricted variants (CD45R; see companion products 1660, 1665, 1675, 1685, and 1820) and as allelic forms CD45.1 (Ly-5.1) and CD45.2 (Ly-5.2). The former arises as a result of alternative splicing of different exons. The specificity of antibodies to CD45.1 and CD45.2 has been exploited in studies where resolution of donor and recipient cells is essential, such as in gene therapy or bone marrow transplantation. The monoclonal antibody A20 recognizes all mouse leukocytes expressing the CD45.1 allotype.

Description: CD16, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, is a 50-65 kDa glycoprotein found as both a transmembrane and GPI-linked form. The transmembrane form of CD16 is expressed on NK cells, granulocytes, macrophages, and mast cells but not on eosinophils. The GPI-anchored type of CD16 is found only on neutrophils. CD16 is involved in NK activation and signal transduction.

Description: CD54, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors and also known as Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates important cell/cell interactions. CD54 is expressed on endothelial cells, dendritic cells, keratinocytes, and lymphocytes. Its expression is upregulated by inflammatory mediators such as IFN γ, IL-1, TNF-α, lipopolysaccharide, and phorbol esters. Endothelial CD54 contributes to the extravasation of leukocytes from blood vessels, particularly in areas of inflammation. CD54 on antigen-presenting cells contributes to antigen-specific T-cell activation, presumably by enhancing interactions between T cell and antigen-presenting cells. These adhesion reactions are mediated via the binding of CD54 to its major ligands, LFA-1 and Mac-1.

Description: CD90 (Thy-1) is a GPI-anchored molecule and one of the smallest members of the immunoglobulin superfamily consisting of a single V-set domain. The Thy-1.2 alloantigen is expressed on all thymocytes, peripheral T lymphocytes, and some intraepithelial T cells of most mouse strains. It is also expressed in the brain and at varying levels on other non-lymphoid tissues. The 30-H12 monoclonal antibody does not cross react with mouse and rat strains bearing the Thy-1.1 alloantigen (e.g., AKR/J, PL).

Description: The monoclonal antibody HBF-719 reacts with the B6 allele of Ly49F, a member of the lectin-like homodimeric Ly49 family of cell surface receptors. Mouse Ly49 receptors exhibit allelic specificity for MHC class I Ia molecules and are thought to serve to prevent natural killer (NK) cells from attacking normal cells while allowing them to attack infected or transformed cells in which class I molecules have been downregulated. These inhibitory receptors are also expressed on subpopulations of mouse CD8+ T cells. The HBF-719 antibody stains ~11% of NK1.1+CD3- splenocytes, and 3.5% (2.5 month old) to 10.0% (11 month old) of CD8+ spleen cells from C57BL/6 mice.
