Description: CD11b (integrin αM subunit) combines with CD18 (integrin β2 subunit) to form the integrin Mac-1, also known as complement receptor 3 (CR3), which mediates adhesion to C3bi and ICAM-1 (CD54). Mac-1 is expressed at varying levels on granulocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, NK cells, and B-1 cells in the peritoneal and pleural cavities. In addition to its role in binding C3bi on opsonized targets and mediation of the subsequent ingestion process, Mac-1 is important as an adhesion molecule in the transendothelial migration of monocytes and neutrophils.

Description: The monoclonal antibody HBF-719 reacts with the B6 allele of Ly49F, a member of the lectin-like homodimeric Ly49 family of cell surface receptors. Mouse Ly49 receptors exhibit allelic specificity for MHC class I Ia molecules and are thought to serve to prevent natural killer (NK) cells from attacking normal cells while allowing them to attack infected or transformed cells in which class I molecules have been downregulated. These inhibitory receptors are also expressed on subpopulations of mouse CD8+ T cells. The HBF-719 antibody stains ~11% of NK1.1+CD3- splenocytes, and 3.5% (2.5 month old) to 10.0% (11 month old) of CD8+ spleen cells from C57BL/6 mice.

Description: CD54, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors and also known as Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates important cell/cell interactions. CD54 is expressed on endothelial cells, dendritic cells, keratinocytes, and lymphocytes. Its expression is upregulated by inflammatory mediators such as IFN γ, IL-1, TNF-α, lipopolysaccharide, and phorbol esters. Endothelial CD54 contributes to the extravasation of leukocytes from blood vessels, particularly in areas of inflammation. CD54 on antigen-presenting cells contributes to antigen-specific T-cell activation, presumably by enhancing interactions between T cell and antigen-presenting cells. These adhesion reactions are mediated via the binding of CD54 to its major ligands, LFA-1 and Mac-1.

Description: CD20 is a 33-37 kDa unglycosylated phosphoprotein. Although not a member of the tetraspanin superfamily of cell surface receptors, it crosses the cell membrane four times. It is expressed on all stages of B cell differentiation except plasma cells. The CD20 molecule is involved in regulation of B cell differentiation presumably via its reported function as a Ca++ channel subunit.

Description: The CD45 antigen is an essential regulator of leukocyte activation and development and is now known to be a protein tyrosine phosphatase, e.g., CD45 is able to dephosphorylate the Src family of protein kinases. This activity is now known to be required for signal transduction induced by T and B cell antigen receptor engagement, cytokine signaling, and Fc receptor stimulation. The functional state of CD45 also has a pronounced effect on lymphocyte development. CD45 exists in multiple forms, such as the restricted variants (CD45R; see companion products 1660, 1665, 1675, 1685, and 1820) and as allelic forms CD45.1 (Ly-5.1) and CD45.2 (Ly-5.2). The former arises as a result of alternative splicing of different exons. The specificity of antibodies to CD45.1 and CD45.2 has been exploited in studies where resolution of donor and recipient cells is essential, such as in gene therapy or bone marrow transplantation. The monoclonal antibody A20 recognizes all mouse leukocytes expressing the CD45.1 allotype.

Description: The lymphocyte Peyer’s patch adhesion molecule (LPAM-1), also known as integrin α4β7, is a member of the integrin family of cell surface receptors. It is expressed primarily on mucosal lymphocytes but is also present on NK cells and eosinophils. The α4β7 heterodimer mediates the binding of lymphocytes to its ligand, mucosal vascular addressin (MAdCAM-1) on the high endothelial venules, thereby directing the homing of lymphocytes into Peyer’s patches and intestinal lamina propria. The monoclonal antibody DATK32 recognizes a conformational epitope on the heterodimer.

Description: CD90 (Thy-1) is a GPI-anchored molecule and one of the smallest members of the immunoglobulin superfamily consisting of a single V-set domain. The Thy-1.2 alloantigen is expressed on all thymocytes, peripheral T lymphocytes, and some intraepithelial T cells of most mouse strains. It is also expressed in the brain and at varying levels on other non-lymphoid tissues. The 30-H12 monoclonal antibody does not cross react with mouse and rat strains bearing the Thy-1.1 alloantigen (e.g., AKR/J, PL).
