Description: PIWI-L3 is a member of the PIWI subfamily of Argonaute proteins, evolutionarily conserved proteins containing both PAZ and Piwi motifs that are crucial for the biogenesis and function of small non-coding RNAs and play important roles in stem cell self-renewal, RNA silencing, and translational regulation in diverse organisms. Recent studies have shown that overexpression of PIWI-L3 (as well as other PIWI-like proteins) are potential biomarkers for astrocytic glioma, meningioma, and other cancers.

Catalog Number: (10801-000)
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: Damage-regulated autophagy modulator (DRAM) is a p53 target gene encoding a lysosomal protein that induces autophagy, a process that degrades cytosolic proteins and organelles. It has been suggested that activation of DRAM by p53 is simultaneous to the activation by p53 of one or more proapoptotic genes such as PUMA, Bax, etc., and that the signaling pathways regulated by these genes promote a full cell death response. By itself, DRAM cannot induce apoptosis, but the fact that it is inactivated in certain cancers highlights the importance of DRAM and suggests that autophagy may play a more important role in cancer than initially suspected. At least two different isoforms of DRAM are known to exist.

Catalog Number: (75933-750)
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: The zinc transporter ZIP5, also known as SLC39A5, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. ZIP5 is closely related to ZIP4, and is found in many of the same tissues, including intestine, pancreas, liver, and kidney, but unlike ZIP4, ZIP5 localizes to the basolateral membrane in kidney cells and its activity is not downregulated by zinc repletion. Recent evidence suggests that ZIP4 and ZIP5 are reciprocally regulated, with translation of ZIP5 mRNA decreasing and ZIP5 protein being rapidly internalized and degraded in response to zinc deficiency.

Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: Inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) were initially identified in baculoviruses as proteins that inhibit apoptosis of the host cells to allow time for viral replication. Cellular homologues containing at least one baculoviral IAP repeat (BIR) motif essential for their anti-apoptosis activity have been identified in yeasts and higher organisms and often act by binding and inhibiting processed caspases. The activity of these proteins can be modulated by the expression of proteins such as Smac/DIABLO and XAF-1 which displace or prevent the binding of caspases by IAPs. Recently, a mitochondrial serine protease termed Omi/HtrA2 has been found to bind IAPs. Similar to Smac, Omi possesses a conserved IAP-binding motif, but acts to cleave IAPs to irreversibly inactivate IAPs and promote apoptosis.

Catalog Number: (10802-570)
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: Ectodysplasin A (EDA1) is a member of the TNF-related ligand family involved in the early epithelial-mesenchymal interaction that regulates ectodermal appendage formation (1). It is a trimeric type II membrane protein that co-localizes with cytoskeletal structures at the lateral and apical surfaces of cells and can be expressed as eight alternatively spliced isoforms in hair follicles and in the epidermis of adult skin (2,3). EDAs are required during development, and loss or mutation of EDA1 results in a group of developmental disorders identified as ectodermal dysplasia type 1 (4,5).
