Description: Cyclin C is a member of the cyclin family of proteins and interacts with the cyclin-dependent kinase 8 (CDK8) and induces the phophorylation of the carboxy-terminal domain of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II. The mRNA levels of Cyclin C fluctuate during the cell cycle and peak at the G1 phase. Cyclin C acts as a critical regulator of the G0/G1 transition of human Hematopoietic stem cells (1). Cyclin C can also combine with CDK3 to stimulate Rb phosphorylation at S807/811 during the G0/G1 transition, and this phosphorylation is required for cells to exit G0 efficiently (2). CyclinC Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Cell Cycle Proteins, Cancer, and Cell Cycle research.

Description: NOD3 Antibody: NOD3 is a member of the NOD (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain) family, a group of proteins that are involved in innate immune defense. NOD3 also known as NLR family CARD containing 3 (NLRC3), is predominantly expressed in the immune system, particularly in T lymphocytes, and its expression is strongly down-regulated following stimulation of the T-cell receptor complex and CD28, suggesting that NOD3 plays a role in attenuating the activation of T cells. NOD3 inhibits NF-kappaB, AP-1 and NFAT transcriptional activation in Jurkat T cells downstream of CD3/CD28 stimulation or treatment with PMA/ionomycin and decreases IL-2 and CD25 mRNA induction in activated cells.

Description: Aven Antibody: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. Aven is a recently discovered protein that blocks apoptosis induced by Apaf-1 and caspase-9. It is thought that Aven functions by binding to Bcl-xL, an antiapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family, and to Apaf-1, possibly interfering with the ability of Apaf-1 to self-associate, suggesting that Aven impedes Apaf-1-mediated caspase activation. Higher levels of Aven mRNA are seen in patients with acute leukemia than in control patients, suggesting that Aven may be useful as a prognostic indicator in leukemia patients.

Description: Mutations in Rae1 and Gle2(Saccharomyces cerevisae homolog) genes have been shown to result in accumulation of poly(A)-containing mRNA in the nucleus, suggesting that the encoded proteins are involved in RNA export. It contains four WD40 motifs, and has been shown to localize to distinct foci in the nucleoplasm, to the nuclear rim, and to meshwork-like structures throughout the cytoplasm. This gene is thought to be involved in nucleocytoplasmic transport, and in directly or indirectly attaching cytoplasmic mRNPs to the cytoskeleton. Depletion of Rae1 from extracts or cells severely inhibits mitotic spindle assembly. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.

Description: Iron metabolism is essential for sustaining mammalian homeostasis. Iron uptake and distribution is a highly regulated process in mammalian cells that is monitored by two iron sensing proteins; iron regulatory protein-1 and -2 (IRP-1 and -2), also known as iron responsive element-binding protein-1 and -2 (IREBP-1 and -2) or aconitase 1 and 2. IRP-1 and IRP-2 are important soluble regulatory factors that mediate iron uptake and storage in mammalian cells. They are capable of either repressing translation or enhancing mRNA stability by associating with stem-loop motifs known as iron-responsive elements (IREs). IRPs respond to stress mediators, iron concentration and signaling factors, including nitrogen monoxide, cytokines and hydrogen peroxide.

Description: OCIAD2 Antibody: OCIAD2 was identified by its sequence similarity with OCIAD1, and together OCIAD1 and OCIAD2 form the OCIA domain family. OCIAD2 mRNA was found to be expressed at higher levels in invasive adenocarcinoma mixed subtype with bronchioloalveolar carcinoma component (BAC) of the lung. Loss of OCIAD2 expression was significantly correlated with lymphatic invasion, blood vessel invasion, and lymph node metastasis, indicating that OCIAD2 may play a role in cell adhesion and prevention of cell migration. While the function of OCIAD2 is still unknown, its expression in adenocarcinoma with BAC component is significantly associated with a favorable prognosis and may serve as a marker for selecting tumors that are treatable by limited surgery.

Description: Apolipoprotein A5 (ApoA5) is fast gaining attention as a key regulator of serum triglyceride concentrations. An ApoA5 mouse knock-out model produced an approximately four fold increase in serum triglycerides, whereas a knock-in model with human ApoA5 produced 50–70% lower concentrations of mouse serum triglycerides. In addition, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-_ agonists, which are used clinically to lower serum triglyceride concentrations, cause increased ApoA5 mRNA expression. Recently, it was demonstrated that ApoA5 is present in human serum detected by polyclonal antibodies against both the NH2 and COOH termini, although at much lower concentration than other apolipoproteins.

Description: Staufen homolog 2 is a member of the family of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding proteins involved in the transport and/or localization of mRNAs to different subcellular compartments and/or organelles. These proteins are characterized by the presence of multiple dsRNA-binding domains which are required to bind RNAs having double-stranded secondary structures. Staufen homolog 2 shares 48.5% and 59.9% similarity with drosophila and human staufen, respectively. The exact function of Staufen homolog 2 is not known, but since it contains 3 copies of conserved dsRNA binding domain, it could be involved in double-stranded RNA binding events. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Description: Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1-. (HNF-1., Homeoprotein LFB3, Transcription factor 2, TCF2, Variant hepatic nuclear factor ) is a liver-specific factor of the homeobox-containing basic helix-turn-helix family. The TCF2 protein is believed to form heterodimers with another liver-specific member of this transcription factor family, TCF1; depending on the TCF2 isoform, the result may be to activate or inhibit transcription of target genes. Mutation of TCF2 that disrupts normal function has been identified as the cause of MODY5 (Maturity-Onset of Diabetes, Type 5). A third human transcript variant is believed to exist based on such a variant in the rat: however, to date such an mRNA species has not been isolated.

Description: The Rab27 GTPase subfamily consists of two closely related homologs, Rab27a and Rab27b. Northern blot analysis revealed that Rab27b is expressed significantly only in testis, in which the predominant transcript was 1.4 kb in size. An 8-kb mRNA of unknown origin was detected in many tissues. Rab27b is associated with tubulovesicle membranes in the parietal cell and Rab27b may play a role in stimulation-associated membrane recruitment and gastric acid secretion. Rab27b is recently reported as a marker for breast cancer progression. It regulates invasive growth and metastasis in ER-positive breast cancer cell lines, and increased expression is associated with poor prognosis in humans.

Description: BAG1 have been identified that modulate gene transcription through poorly defined mechanisms. Four isoforms of the BAG1 protein (BAG1S, BAG1, BAG1M and BAG1L) can be produced from a common mRNA by use of alternative translation initiation sites, including a non-canonical CTG codon in one instance. The longest, BAG1L (Mr ~50K), contains a nuclear localization signal (NLS) and resides in the nucleus, whereas BAG1M (Mr ~46K) has an incomplete NLS and distributes mainly in cytosol, unless dragged into the nucleus through interactions with other. Distribution of BAG1S(p33) is not clear yet. This antibody can recognize all the isoforms of BAG1.
