Description: Covalent modification of target lysines by SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) modulates processes such as protein localization, transcription, nuclear transport, mitosis, DNA replication and repair, signal transduction, and viral reproduction. SUMO does not seem to be involved in protein degradation and may in fact function as an antagonist of ubiquitin in the degradation process. In the development of Drosophila, SUMO plays a maternal role in anterior-posterior (A/P) polarity and patterning.

Description: The 17A2 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with the mouse T lymphocytes receptor (TCR) associated CD3 complex, resulting in cellular activation and proliferation. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and mature lymphocytes, and contains gamma, delta, and epsilon subunits, involved in the assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of T-cell receptor complex. The interaction between the T lymphocytes and the 17A2 antibody can be blocked by the anti-CD3e antibody, demonstrating that the 17A2 antibody recognizes the CD3 epsilon chain.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: The Ber-H2 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD30, a 120kDA type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily (TNFR) also known as the Ki-1 antigen. CD30 can elicit signals leading to either activation or apoptosis through interaction with CD30 ligand (CD30L). It is expressed by a subset of extrafollicular activated B and T cells, lung macrophages, activated NK cells, lymphomas, and endothelial cells. It is highly expressed on Hodgkins and Reed-Sternberg cells.

Description: Inter-Cellular Adhesion Molecule 1 (ICAM1) is a type of intercellular adhesion molecule continuously present in low concentrations in the membranes of leukocytes and endothelial cells. As an endothelial and leukocyte-associated transmembrane protein, ICAM1 is well known for its importance in stabilizing cell-cell interactions and facilitating leukocyte endothelial transmigration. The presence of heavy glycosylation and other structural characteristics lend ICAM1 binding sites for a number of immune-associated ligands. Notably, ICAM-1 binds to macrophage adhesion ligand-1 (Mac-1; ITGB2 / ITGAM), leukocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1/integrin), and fibrinogen.ICAM-1 expressed by respiratory epithelial cells is also the binding site for rhinovirus, the causative agent of most common colds.

Description: Insulin is produced exclusively by the beta cells in the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. The level and beta-cell specificity of insulin gene expression are regulated by a set of nuclear genes that bind to specific sequences within the promoter of the insulin gene (INS; MIM 176730) and interact with RNA polymerase to activate or repress transcription. LMX1 is a homeodomain protein that binds an A/T-rich sequence in the insulin promoter and stimulates transcription of insulin. Description: X box binding protein 1 (XBP-1) is a key protein in the mammalian unfolded protein response (UPR) that protects the cell against the stress of malfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) (1). Upon sensing unfolded proteins, an ER transmembrane endonuclease and kinase termed IRE1p is activated and excises an intron from XBP-1 mRNA. The spliced XBP-1 mRNA results in a 371 amino acid protein (XBP-1s) which is then translocated to the nucleus where it binds to the regulatory elements of downstream genes. Together with other UPR transcription factors such as ATF6, XBP-1 stimulates the production of ER stress proteins including the ER resident protein chaperones glucose regulated protein (GRP) 78 and GRP94 (3,4).
