Description: Murine CD38, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein, is a bifunctional ectoenzyme capable of catabolizing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) to cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR), and then hydrolyzing cADPR to adenosine diphosphoribose (ADPR). It is expressed at high levels on the surface of peripheral B-lineage cells and at low density on germinal center B cells from unimmunized mice. It has also been reported to be expressed at moderate levels on NK cells, a proportion of peripheral T cells, and a subpopulation of thymocytes which are mostly TCRαβ+, CD4-, CD8-. Murine CD38 is also expressed by all Mac-1+ macrophages in the peritoneal cavities of unimmunized mice but not by unstimulated bone-marrow-derived macrophages. Monoclonal antibodies to CD38 have been shown to induce B and T cell proliferation, protect B cells from apoptosis, and inhibit B lymphopoiesis.

Description: CD11b is the 165 kDa αM chain which combines with the CD18 β2 integrin subunit to form the Mac-1 heterodimer. It is expressed on activated lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes and a subset of NK cells. CD11b functions in cell-cell and cell-substrate interactions and is a ligand for C3bi, CD50 (ICAM-3), CD54 (ICAM-1) and CD102 (ICAM-2).

Description: The monoclonal antibody YLI-90 reacts with the B6 allele of Ly49I, a member of the lectin-like homodimeric Ly49 family of cell surface receptors. Mouse Ly49 receptors exhibit allelic specificity for MHC class I Ia molecules and are thought to serve to prevent natural killer (NK) cells from attacking normal cells while allowing them to attack infected or transformed cells in which class I molecules have been down-regulated. These inhibitory receptors are also expressed on subpopulations of mouse CD8+ T cells. The YLI-90 antibody stains ~45% of NK1.1+CD3- splenocytes from C57BL/6 mice.

Description: CD62E represents the 97 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein E-selectin, also known as endothelial-leukocyte adhesion molecule-1 (ELAM-1). It is expressed on cytokine-stimulated endothelium, weakly on unactivated endothelium, and is absent on leukocytes. Like other selectins, CD62E is an adhesion molecule that contributes to the initial attachment and rolling of leukocytes on endothelial surfaces, a prerequisite for leukocyte extravasation into tissues. CD62P is a 140 kDa membrane glycoprotein formerly known as platelet activation-dependent granule membrane protein (PADGEM) or GMP-140. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, and epithelium. It is thought to mediate the adhesive interactions of neutrophils and monocytes with endothelium in inflammatory responses and of activated platelets to neutrophils and monocytes in hemostasis. The monoclonal antibody 1.2B6 recognizes a common epitope shared by CD62E and CD62P.

Description: The monoclonal antibody KUL01 is useful in the study of the development, distribution, function, and ontogeny of the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) of the chicken by exclusively recognizing the cells of the MPS. It identifies chicken monocytes and macrophages as well as interdigitating cells and activated microglia cells. This antibody does not react with B (Bu-1+) or T (CD3+) lymphocytes.

Description: CD62L, also known as L-selectin, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein with lectin-like and epidermal growth factor-like domains. It binds to sialylated oligosaccharide determinants on high endothelial venules (HEV) in peripheral lymph nodes. In the mouse, CD62L is expressed on most thymocytes and on peripheral leukocytes, including B and T lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, and eosinophils. This member of the selectin family of cell adhesion molecules appears to be required for lymphocyte homing to peripheral lymph nodes and for leukocyte extravasation at sites of inflammation. Expression of CD62L on lymphocytes and neutrophils is rapidly down-regulated upon cell activation and the level of CD62L expression, along with other markers, distinguishes naive T cells from effector/memory T cells. The monoclonal antibody MEL-14 blocks in vitro binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node HEV and inhibits in vivo lymphocyte extravasation into peripheral lymph nodes and the late stages of leukocyte rolling.

Description: Interleukin-21 (IL-21) is a four helical bundle type I cytokine. The mature form of human IL-21 is a 131 amino acid protein. IL-21 is expressed primarily by NKT and CD4+ T cells, particularly the inflammatory Th17 subset, and has pleiotropic effects on both innate and adaptive immune responses. The effects of IL-21 include promotion of antibody production, NK cell differentiation, proliferation and differentiation of cells of monocyte and granulocyte lineages, costimulation of T cells, and augmentation of antitumor activity of CD8+ T cells. Studies have shown that IL-21 is also an autocrine cytokine that potently induces Th17 differentiation and suppresses Foxp3 expression, and serves as a target for treating inflammatory diseases.
