Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Dimethyl Sulfoxide is ideal for use as a cryoprotectant. Also used in chemical reactions, in polymerase chain reactions (PCR) as a PCR cosolvent to help improve yields, especially in long PCR, and as a cryoprotectant vitrification agent for the preservation of cells, tissues and organs. DMSO is used in cell freezing media to protect cells from ice crystal-induced mechanical injury. It is used for frozen storage of primary, sub-cultured, and recombinant heteroploid and hybridoma cell lines, embryonic stem cells (ESC), and hematopoietic stem cells. DMSO is frequently used in the combinations with BSA or fetal bovine serum (FBS). Used to enhance dermal absorption of many chemicals. A solvent for many organic and inorganic compounds including fats, carbohydrates, dyes, resins, and polymers. Used in antifreeze or hydraulic fluids. A cryopreservative for cell cultures. Used in the oxidation of thiols and disulfides to sulfonic acids.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a highly polar aprotic organic reagent that has exceptional solvent properties for organic and inorganic chemicals

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Storage: Room Temperature, desiccate, store under nitrogen.
Dimethyl Sulfoxide is a dipola, aprotic solvent. It has been shown to accelerate strand renaturation (1-10% concentration) and is believed to give the nucleic acid thermal stability against depurination.
Dimethyl Sulfoxide is used to enhance dermal absorption of many chemicals, as a solvent for many organic and inorganic compounds including fats, carbohydrates, dyes, resins, and polymers, in antifreeze or hydraulic fluids, as a cryopreservative for cell cultures, oxidation of thiols and disulfides to sulfonic acids, as a PCR cosolvent to help improve yields, especially in long PCR. DMSO is routinely used in polymerase chan reaction (PCR), amplification of cDNA libraries, DNA sequencing, column-loading buffers for poly (A)+ RNA selection, buffers for the transformation of competent E. coli, and transfection protocols.
To prepare sterile solutions use a teflon or nylon membrane to sterile-filter the DMSO - do not use a cellulose acetate membrane.

Supplier: PRO-LAB DIAGNOSTIC
Description: A ready-to-use system designed to simplify the storage and retrieval of bacterial and fungal cultures.

SDS

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Tricine was first prepared by Good for use as a buffer for chloroplast reactions. It is structurally similar to Tris, but is much less inhibitory at high concentrations. For ATP assays using firefly luciferase, tricine buffer at 25 mM was found to be the best of ten common buffers tested.
Tricine is used as buffer component for separation of low molecular weight peptides. Tricine can be used in cryopreservation medium for the preservation of tissues and organs. cryopreservation depends on the physical and chemical characteristics of the preservation medium used. The pH values and pK values for tricine/DMSO mixtures has been reported down to -20 °C. Tricine has been found to be an efficient scavenger of hydroxyl radicals in a study of radiation-induced membrane damage. Tricine is typically the buffer of choice in SDS-PAGE systems when separating proteins in the range of 1 to 100 kDa.
A buffer may be prepared by titrating with sodium hydroxide to the desired pH, using about a half-equivalent of NaOH.
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Adonitol (ribitol), a pentose alcohol, is metabolised to teicholic acids used in the cell walls of gram positive bacteria. Adonitol is often compared to other cell permeating molecules such as formamide, propanediol, and DMSO as a cryopreservation agent.
