This luminol-based enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL) horseradish peroxidase (HRP) substrate for Western blotting provides very stable light output especially for documentation with CCD camera imagers with sensitivity in the mid-femto range.
- Enhanced chemiluminescent substrate with high sensitivity and long signal duration for horseradish peroxidase (HRP)
- Femtogram-level sensitivity
- Less antibodies usage - up to 25 to 50 times more blots than possible with other chemiluminescent substrates
- Intense signal is generated immediately and is easily detected on film or chemiluminescent imaging systems
- Light emission stable for up to 10 times longer than other chemiluminescent substrates, allowing multiple exposures for publication-quality blots
Optimized for high sensitivity and long signal duration, making it ideal for cooled-CCD camera detection systems
The chemical reaction that occurs between HRP and luminol in hydrogen peroxide produces a weak light that only lasts for a short period of time. SuperSignal substrates contain an enhancer that intensifies the light to an emission wavelength of 425nm and lengthens the duration to at least six hours for easy HRP detection in immunoblot and ELISA applications. These substrates will work on smaller sample volumes while still providing sensitivity to the picogram level or lower. The signal is generated within seconds and produces low background noise. The chemicals used have not been reported to be hazardous and can replace more hazardous radioactive methods of immunodetection to create a safer lab environment and eliminate any additional waste disposal costs. In addition, all substrates are stable at room temperature, eliminating the need to thaw the substrate before running a protocol.
Substrate is stable for at least one year at room temperature and can be stored at 4°C (39°F) for longer stability. The working solution is stable for a minimum of 24 hours at room temperature and can be used in either light or dark conditions.
The signal produced is stable for several hours, allowing multiple camera (or film) exposures to be made, unlike other substrates with a signal that declines to undetectable levels in 30 to 60 minutes.
