For digestion of native collagen fibrils.
- Use in a variety of cell and tissue types
Digest native collagen fibrils in connective tissues with Collagenase Type II, sourced from Clostridium histolyticum. Collagenase preparations contain the activity of several proteases, including collagenase, caseinase, clostripain, and trypsin (Kessler and Yaron). With high levels of protease activity, especially clostripain, Collagenase Type II has been used for the digestion of many tissues and cell types, including lung (You and Brody; Comhair et al.), kidney (Valente et al.), liver (Linghor et al.), thymus (Vandenabeele et al.), endothelial cells (Patel et al.), and mesenchymal stem cells (Steigman and Fauza).
