Description: CTRP1 Antibody: Adipose tissue of an organism plays a major role in regulating physiologic and pathologic processes such as metabolism and immunity by producing and secreting a variety of bioactive molecules termed adipokines. One highly conserved family of adipokines is adiponectin/ACRP30 and its structural and functional paralogs, the C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1-7. Unlike adiponectin, which is expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes, the CTRPs are expressed in a wide variety of tissues. These proteins are thought to act mainly on liver and muscle tissue to control glucose and lipid metabolism. An analysis of the crystal structure of adiponectin revealed a structural and evolutionary link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, suggesting that these proteins arose from a common ancestral innate immunity gene. In obese (ob/ob) mice, RT-PCR analysis showed that mCTRP1 transcripts are seen at substantially higher levels in adipose tissues compared to those of normal mice.

Description: APCS is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentraxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. These family members have considerable sequence homology which is thought to be the result of gene duplication. The binding of the protein to proteins in the pathological amyloid cross-beta fold suggests its possible role as a chaperone. This protein is also thought to control the degradation of chromatin. It has been demonstrated that this protein binds to apoptotic cells at an early stage, which raises the possibility that it is involved in dealing with apoptotic cells in vivo. The protein encoded by this gene is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentraxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. Description: TRIM9 is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The protein localizes to cytoplasmic bodies. Its function has not been identified. Alternate splicing of this gene generates two transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Description: The PITX2 gene encodes a member of the RIEG/PITX homeobox family, which is in the bicoid class of homeodomain proteins. This protein acts as a transcription factor and regulates procollagen lysyl hydroxylase gene expression. Mutations in PITX2 are associated with Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome (ARS), iridogoniodysgenesis syndrome (IGDS), and sporadic cases of Peters anomaly. This protein is involved in the development of the eye, tooth and abdominal organs. It also acts as a transcriptional regulator involved in basal and hormone-regulated activity of prolactin.

Description: CCT5 is a molecular chaperone that is member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Alternate transcriptional splice variants of this gene have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized. This gene encodes a molecular chaperone that is member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). Description: Murine SF20 is a bone marrow stroma-derived growth factor. SF20 is expressed in bone marrow, spleen stroma cells, resting mononuclear cells, resting CD8+ and CD19+ cells and activated CD8+ T cells and has been shown to bind to the surface of cells expressing the receptor TSA-1 (Thymic shared Ag-1). Among its biological activities, SF20 stimulates the proliferation of FDCP2 cells (a mouse factor-dependent hemopoietic cell line) and mouse lymphoid cells. Recombinant murine SF20 is a 15.8 kDa protein containing 143 amino acid residues.

Description: Interleukin 31 (IL-31) is a recently discovered T-cell cytokine closely related to IL-6 type cytokines and is preferentially produced by T helper type 2 cells. IL-31 activity is mediated through the ligand-induced oligomerization of a dimeric receptor complex containing IL-31 receptor A and oncostatin M receptor. In response to IL-31 binding, these proteins activate the JAK/STAT and the AKT signaling pathways. RNA levels of IL-31 receptor A and oncostatin M receptor are induced in activated monocytes but are expressed constitutively in epithelial cells. IL-31, when overexpressed in transgenic mice, results in the development of pruritis, alopecia and skin lesions, and in humans may result in atopic dermatitis, suggesting that IL-31 may represent a novel target for antipruritic drug development.

Description: Human Kallikrein 11 (KLK11) is a member of tissue kallikrein family which are extracellular serine proteases consisting of 15 members. Two isoforms of KLK11 are differentially expressed. Isoform 1 is predominantly expressed in brain and isoform 2 is preferentially expressed in prostate. Isoform 1 consists of a signal peptide,a short pro peptide and the mature chain.Isoform 2 contains an extra 32 amino acid N terminal to full-length isoform 1.KLK11 is a novel marker for ovarian and prostate cancer carcinomas. KLK11 can be activated by thermolysin and is active against a thioester substrate.
