Description: The FGFs are a family of more than 20 small (~17–26 kDa) secreted peptides. The initial characterization of these proteins focused on their ability to stimulate fibroblast proliferation. This mitogenic activity was mediated through FGF receptors (FGFRs) 1, 2, or 3. A fourth closely related tyrosine kinase receptor (FGFR4) was able to bind the FGFs but did not lead to a mitogenic response.

Description: The Heat shock protein 70(HSP70) family was found in many intracellular compartments. Members of this protein occur in chloroplasts, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and cytosol. These proteins are induced by a variety of biological stresses, including heat stress, in every organism. HSP70 serves a variety of roles: It acts as molecular chaperones facilitating the assembly of multi-protein complexes, It participates in the translocation of polypeptides across cell membranes and to the nucleus It aids in the proper folding of nascent polypeptide chains. HSP70 is mitochondrial import machinery and plays key roles in the cytosolic endoplasmic reticulum. Recently, extracellular localized HSP have been found to play key roles in the induction of a cellular immune response.

Description: Human thyrostimulin ranks among the glycoprotein hormone family. These hormones consist of two subunits, the common alpha- and specific beta-subunits, which associate noncovalently to form a heterodimer. The alpha-subunit combines with four distinct beta-subunits giving rise to four biologically active hormones in human: FSH, LH, TSH, and CG. FSH, LH, and TSH, mainly expressed in the anterior pituitary, are essential for coordinated endocrine regulation in the hypothalamus- pituitary axis and show to activate specific G protein–coupled receptors in the thyroid (TSH receptor) and gonads (LH and FSH receptors), respectively.

Description: ULBP5 acts as a ligand for the NKG2D receptor on the surface of NK cells. ULBP ligands are produced by virally infected cells and tumours. Stimulation of NKG2D contributes to anti-tumour and anti-viral immune responses of NK cells. ULBP5 is expressed in two variants, as a membrane and soluble isoform.

Description: Human Lecithin: cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) is a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of approximately 58 kDa. It is the key enzyme responsible for esterification of free cholesterol to cholesteryl esters in circulating plasma lipoproteins, primarily in high density lipoprotein (HDL). The tertiary structure of LCAT is maintained by two disulfide bridges, similar to lipases and other proteins of the α/β hydrolase fold family. Mature LCAT protein is synthesized from a 440 residue precursor by following cleavage of a 24 residue signal peptide. The mature protein contains 416 amino acids and is heavily N-glycosylated. LCAT is abundant in blood plasma and it is present in other organs, including liver, brain and testes. In plasma LCAT is associated with ApoD which frequently co-purify.
