Description: Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is an immunoglobulin expressed initially on the surface of B-cells as a monomer of two mu heavy chains and two light chains. Following B-cell activation, IgM is secreted in its pentameric form, consisting of five IgM molecules joined at the base of the Fc domain by a J chain. IgM is the first Immunoglobulin expressed following infection.

Description: Induces apoptosis in tumorigenic and transformed cell lines, involved in T cell mediated cytotoxicity, TRAIL ligand of cognate receptors induces NF-kappa-B signaling in a variety of cell types. TRAIL is a 30kDa protein known as TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand, CD253, TNFSF10, or Apo-2L. It can be expressed as a cell surface (30kDa) and soluble ligand (19-20kDa) produced by megakaryocytes and platelets, monocytes, neutrophils, NK cells and activated T cells. This antigen is also expressed on tumor cells and transformed cell lines. TRAIL has been reported to induce apoptosis in tumor and transformed cell lines by a caspase-dependent process. This antibody is useful for flow cytometric staining and blocking studies.

Description: The Insulin Receptor (InsR) is a heterodimeric receptor tyrosine kinase with an extracellular alpha-chain, a transmembrane domain and an intracellular beta-chain. InsR is activated upon binding of the peptide hormone insulin, leading to autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues 1146, 1150, and 1151 in the activation loop of the beta-chain. Additional autophosphorylation sites such as tyrosine residues 960, 972, 1316, and 1322 regulate the assembly of signal transduction complexes.

Description: Metabolism of inositol phospholipids by intracellular signaling mediators is fundamental to signal transduction in eukaryotic cells. PI-4,5-P2 (PIP2) can be synthesized by phosphorylation of PI-4-P by type I phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinase (PIP5K I), or phosphorylation of PI-5-P by type II PIPK (PIP4K II). PI-4,5-P2 regulation of cellular calcium levels involves its hydrolysis by Phospholipase C (PLC) to produce inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG), which serve as second messengers in the import of calcium via IP3-sensitive ion channels and in the activation of PKC, respectively.

Description: The 90 kDa molecular chaperone family includes 90 kDa heat shock protein Hsp90 and 94 kDa glucose-regulated protein grp94, both major molecular chaperones of the cytosol and the endoplasmic reticulum. Mammalian cells express inducible Hsp90 alpha and constitutive Hsp90 beta isoforms that are encoded by separate genes. The amino acid sequences of human and yeast Hsp90 alpha are 85% and 90% homologous to those of Hsp90 beta, respectively. All known members of the Hsp90 protein family are highly conserved, especially in the N-terminal and C-terminal regions containing independent chaperone sites with different substrate specificity. These ubiquitous and highly conserved proteins account for 1-2% of all cellular protein in most cells. Hsp90 functions as part of the cell's powerful network of chaperones to fight the deleterious consequences of protein unfolding caused by non-physiological conditions. In the absence of stress, however, Hsp90 provides a necessary component of such fundamental cellular processes as hormone signaling and cell cycle control by serving as a chaperone for many key signaling molecules including steroid receptors, cell cycle kinases involved in signal transduction, and p53. As many of these client proteins are known oncogenes, Hsp90 inhibitors such as 17-AAG, a geldanamycin analog, have been of benefit in the treatment of many cancers.
