Description: This antibody recognizes a 12-14 kDa doublet of Calgranulin A/B (also known as S100A8/A9 or MRP-8/14); expressed by granulocytes, monocytes and by tissue macrophages. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. Altered expression of this protein is associated with the disease cystic fibrosis. This MAb reacts with neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and squamous mucosal epithelia and has been shown as an important marker for identifying macrophages in tissue sections.

Description: EFHD2, also known as Swiprosin-1 or SWS1, is an EF-hand and coiled-coil-containing adaptor protein that plays a role in lymphocyte physiology. EFHD2 exhibits the highest expression in CD8+ T cells and immature B cells. It provides a membrane scaffold that is required for the Syk-, SLP-65-, and PLCgamma2-dependent B-cell receptor (BCR)-induced calcium flux. EFHD2 may also regulate BCR-induced immature and primary B-cell apoptosis. It controls spontaneous apoptosis through the regulation of BCL2L1 abundance. Also, EFHD2 plays a role as negative regulator of the canonical NF-kB-activating branch.

Description: S100-B, is an acidic protein with a molecular weight of 21 kDa belonging to the S100 family. S100-B contains two EF-hand-type calcium-binding motifs separated by a hinge region with a hydrophobic cleft. S100-B plays an important role in neurodevelopment, differentiation, and brain construction. S100-B has neuroprotective effects, but at high concentrations S100-B is neurotoxic. Extracellular concentration of S100-B increases following brain damage, which easily penetrates into cerebrospinal fluid in brain damage and then into the blood. S100-B is expressed and produced by astrocytes in vertebrate brains and in the CNS, and the astrocytes are the major cells producing S100-B protein in gray matter, as well as oligodendrocytes are the predominant S100-B in protein producing cells in white matter. The major advantage of using S100-B is that elevations in serum or CSF levels provide a sensitive measure for determining CNS injury at the molecular level before gross changes develop, enabling timely delivery of crucial medical intervention before irreversible damage occurs. In addition, S100-B, which is also present in Mouse melanocytes, is a reliable marker for melanoma malignancy both in bioptic tissue and in serum.

Description: PDGFs are disulfide-linked dimers consisting of two 12.0-13.5 kDa polypeptide chains, designated PDGF-A and PDGF-B chains. The three naturally occurring PDGFs, PDGF-AA, PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB, are potent mitogens for a variety of cell types, including smooth muscle cells, connective tissue cells, bone and cartilage cells, and some blood cells. The PDGFs are stored in platelet alpha-granules, and are released upon platelet activation. The PDGFs are involved in a number of biological processes, including hyperplasia, chemotaxis, embryonic neuron development, and respiratory tubule epithelial cell development. Two distinct signaling receptors used by PDGFs have been identified and named PDGFR-alpha and PDGFR-beta. PDGFR-alpha is a high-affinity receptor for each of the three PDGF forms. On the other hand, PDGFR-beta interacts with only PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB. Recombinant Human PDGF-BB is a 24.3 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of two beta chains (218 total amino acids).

Description: IgM normally constitutes about 10% of serum immunoglobulins. IgM antibody is prominent in early immune responses to most antigens and predominates in certain antibody responses such as 'natural' blood group antibodies. IgM (with IgD) is the major immunoglobulin expressed on the surface of B cells. The gene for the mu constant region contains four domains separated by short intervening sequences. Class specific anti immunoglobulin antibodies are useful for: The characterization of malignant B cell proliferations. All but acute lymphocytic leukemias share either surface or intra cytoplasmic Ig with an isotypic restriction, which suggest the monoclonal nature of the cell population. Most of the chronic lymphocytic leukemias, non Hodgkin lymphomas and Burkitt's lymphoma bear surface IgM, whereas plasmocytes from Waldenstres are less frequently found. On the other hand multiple myelomas are usually of the IgG or IgA type. Characterization of plasma cells in inflammatory conditions: Plasma cell typing can be of use for the classification of intestinal inflammatory conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and allergic conditions. In the latter a specific increase in the number of IgE plasma cells can be demonstrated.

Description: SCA11 is a 1,244 amino acid protein that belongs to the protein kinase superfamily and the CK1 Ser/Thr protein kinase family. The SCA11 gene, comprising of 16 exons, produces a 5.6-kb transcript in which the longest open reading frame is 3,732 nucleotides. Defects in the SCA11 protein are the cause of the disorder spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 (SCA11). Spinocerebellar ataxia is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of cerebellar disorders. Patients show progressive incoordination of gait and often poor coordination of hands, speech and eye movements, due to degeneration of the cerebellum with variable involvement of the brainstem and spinal cord. The SCA11 disorder is an autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia (ADCA). It is a relatively benign, late-onset, slowly progressive neurologic disorder. The SCA11 protein has also been implicated in Alzheimer disease and in tangle formation. Existing as three alternatively spliced isoforms, the SCA11 gene is conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken and zebrafish, and maps to human chromosome 15q15.2.

Description: Eukaryotic histones are basic and water-soluble nuclear proteins. They form hetero-octameric nucleosome particles by wrapping 146 base pairs of DNA in a left-handed super-helical turn sequentially to form chromosomal fiber. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form the octamer; formed of two H2A-H2B dimers and two H3-H4 dimers, forming two nearly symmetrical halves by tertiary structure. Over 80% of nucleosomes contain the linker Histone H1, derived from an intronless gene that interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and mediates compaction into higher order chromatin. Histones are subject to posttranslational modification by enzymes primarily on their N-terminal tails, but also in their globular domains. Such modifications include methylation, citrullination, acetylation, phosphorylation, sumoylation, ubiquitination and ADP-ribosylation.
