Description: DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. DDX5 encodes a DEAD box protein, which is a RNA-dependent ATPase, and also a proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. DDX5 consists of 13 exons, and alternatively spliced transcripts containing several intron sequences have been detected, but no isoforms encoded by these transcripts have been identified.

Description: As a RNA-binding protein, C14orf156 acts as a nuclear receptor corepressor. It probably acts by binding the SRA RNA, and repressing the SRA-mediated nuclear receptor coactivation. C14orf156 binds the STR7 loop of SRA RNA. It is also able to repress glucocorticoid (GR), androgen (AR), thyroid (TR) and VDR-mediated transactivation.

Description: The ELAV (embryonic lethal abnormal visual system) gene of D. Melanogaste is the the first identified member of a family of neuronal RNA binding proteins that is conserved in metazoans. The proteins in this family contain three RNA Recognition Motifs (RRM), with a hinge region separating the second and third RRMs and an optional non-conserved N-terminal region. The hinge includes signals essential for nuclear export and subcellular localization . Elav is expressed specifically in the neurons and is required for the correct development and maintenance of the nervous system. ELAVL2 can binds RNA, and recognize a GAAA motif. In addition, it can bind to its own 3'-UTR, the FOS 3'-UTR and the ID 3'-UTR.

Description: Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.

Description: GTF2B is the general transcription factor IIB, one of the ubiquitous factors required for transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II. The protein localizes to the nucleus where it forms a complex (the DAB complex) with transcription factors IID and IIA. Transcription factor IIB serves as a bridge between IID, the factor which initially recognizes the promoter sequence, and RNA polymerase II.

Description: qScript XLT One-Step RT-qPCR ToughMix is a ready-to-use, highly sensitive master mix for reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) of RNA templates using hybridization probe detection chemistries such as TaqMan® 5’-hydrolysis probes on real-time PCR systems that do not require a passive reference dye. First-strand cDNA synthesis and PCR amplification are carried out in the same tube without opening between procedures. It is ideal for highly sensitive quantification of RNA viruses or low abundance RNA targets as well as high throughput gene-expression studies. The system has been optimized to deliver maximum RT-PCR efficiency, sensitivity, and specificity in reduced reaction volumes and fast cycle times. qScript XLT One-Step RT-qPCR ToughMix contains all required components for RT-qPCR except RNA template and probe. It is compatible with all dual-labeled probe chemistries.

Description: FUSIP1 is a member of the serine-arginine (SR) family of proteins, which is involved in constitutive and regulated RNA splicing. Members of this family are characterized by N-terminal RNP1 and RNP2 motifs, which are required for binding to RNA, and multiple C-terminal SR/RS repeats, which are important in mediating association with other cellular proteins. This protein can influence splice site selection of adenovirus E1A pre-mRNA. It interacts with the oncoprotein TLS, and abrogates the influence of TLS on E1A pre-mRNA splicing. This gene product is a member of the serine-arginine (SR) family of proteins, which is involved in constitutive and regulated RNA splicing. Alternative splicing of this gene results in at least two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. In addition, transcript variants utilizing alternative polyA sites exist.

Description: Myeloid/lymphoid or mixed-lineage leukemia (trithorax homolog, Drosophila).Eukaryotic RNA polymerase II mediates the synthesis of mature and functional messenger RNA. This is a multistep process, called the transcription cycle, that includes five stages: preinitiation, promoter, clearance, elongation and termination. Elongation is thought to be a critical stage for the regulation of gene expression. ELL (11-19 lysine-rich leukemia protein, also designated MEN)
functions as an RNA polymerase II elongation factor that increases the rateof transcription by suppressing transient pausing by RNA polymerase II. Also, ELL is thought to regulate cellular proliferation. ELL is abundantly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes, skeletal muscle, placenta and testis, and has lower expression in spleen, thymus, heart, brain, lung, kidney, liver and ovary. The gene encoding human ELL, which maps to chromosome 19p13.1, is one of several genes which undergo translocation with the MLL gene on chromo-some 11q23 in acute myeloid leukemia. MLL (myeloid/lymphoid leukemia, also designated ALL-1 and HRX) is a 430 kDa protein that regulates embryonal and hematopoietic development.

Description: LARP2 encodes a protein containing domains found in the La related protein of Drosophila melanogaster. La motif-containing proteins are thought to be RNA-binding proteins, where the La motif and adjacent amino acids fold into an RNA recognition motif. The La motif is also found in proteins unrelated to the La protein. Alternative splicing has been observed at this locus and three variants, encoding distinct isoforms, are described.
