Description: Pseudouridination is the isomerization of uridine to pseudouridine. It is the most common posttranscriptional nucleotide modification found in RNA. It is essential for biologic functions such as spliceosome biogenesis. Pseudouridylate synthases, such as PUS10, catalyze pseudouridination of structural RNAs, including transfer, ribosomal, and splicing RNAs. These enzymes also act as RNA chaperones which facilitate the correct folding and assembly of tRNAs.

Description: APOBEC3F is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. Members of the cluster encode proteins that are structurally and functionally related to the C to U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1. It is thought that the proteins may be RNA editing enzymes and have roles in growth or cell cycle control. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Description: Probable RNA/DNA helicase involved in diverse aspects of RNA metabolism and genomic integrity. Plays a role in transcription regulation by its ability to modulate RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) binding to chromatin and through its interaction with proteins involved in transcription (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224). Contributes to the mRNA splicing efficiency and splice site selection (PubMed:19515850). Required for the resolution of R-loop RNA-DNA hybrid formation at G-rich pause sites located downstream of the poly(A) site, allowing XRN2 recruitment and XRN2-mediated degradation of the downstream cleaved RNA and hence efficient RNA polymerase II (RNAp II) transcription termination (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224). Required for the 3' transcriptional termination of PER1 and CRY2, thus playing an important role in the circadian rhythm regulation (By similarity). Involved in DNA double-strand breaks damage response generated by oxidative stress (PubMed:17562789). In association with RRP45, targets the RNA exosome complex to sites of transcription-induced DNA damage (PubMed:24105744). Plays a role in the development and maturation of germ cells: essential for male meiosis, acting at the interface of transcription and meiotic recombination, and in the process of gene silencing during meiotic sex chromosome inactivation (MSCI) (By similarity). May be involved in telomeric stability through the regulation of telomere repeat-containing RNA (TERRA) transcription (PubMed:21112256). Plays a role in neurite outgrowth in hippocampal cells through FGF8-activated signaling pathways. Inhibits retinoic acid-induced apoptosis (PubMed:21576111).

Description: The NS3 serine protease, in association with NS4A, is responsible for the cleavages of the Hepatitis C virus protease complexes NS3-NS4A, NS4A-NS4B, NS4B-NS5A and NS5A-NS5B. NS5B is a RNA-dependent RNA polymerase that plays an essential role in the virus replication. Hepatitis C virus protease NS3-NS4A colocalizes with IPS-1/VISA/MAVS/Cardif in the mitochondrial membrane and has been shown to cleave the TLR3 adapter TRIF and Cardif to eliminate the antiviral signaling pathways. NS3-NS4A represents an important target for anti-HCV drugs.

Description: DEAD-box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp, are putative RNA helicases implicated in several cellular processes involving modifications of RNA secondary structure and ribosome/spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family may be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. DDX15 (DEAH-box protein 15), also known as DHX15, DBP1 or HRH2, is a nuclear ATP-dependent RNA helicase that is involved in pre-mRNA splicing and is a member of the DEAH-box subfamily of DEAD-box proteins. Expressed throughout the body, DDX15 is a pre-mRNA processing factor that plays a role in spliceosome disassembly after the release of mature mRNA. When localized to the nucleoli, DDX15 is thought to interact with the La/SSB autoantigen, an RNA chaperone that functions in various intracellular processes. DDX15 is 795 amino acids in length and is the human ortholog of the S. cerevisiae protein Prp43. helicase 2.

Description: PPIE is a member of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family. PPIases catalyze the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and accelerate the folding of proteins. This protein contains a highly conserved cyclophilin (CYP) domain as well as an RNA-binding domain. It was shown to possess PPIase and protein folding activities and also exhibit RNA-binding activity. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family.
