Description: SATB1 Antibody: Human special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-1 (SATB1) is a nuclear matrix/scaffold-associated region DNA-binding protein, predominantly expressed in the thymus and pre-B cells. Like its homolog SATB2, SATB1 selectively binds double-stranded, special AT-rich DNA sequences in which one strand exclusively consists of well-mixed A, T, and C nucleotides. SATB1 contains a dimerization domain that shares similarity with the PDZ motif, identified as an indispensable element for high-affinity binding of SATB1 to DNA. SATB1 constitutes a functional nuclear architecture that has a 'cage-like' protein distribution surrounding heterochromatin and regulates gene expression through chromatin remodeling/HDAC (histone deacetylase complex) and transcription factors recruitment. SATB1 functions as a 'genome organizer' essential for proper T-cell development. Recent studies show that SATB1 is necessary for breast cancer cells to become metastatic, and when ectopically expressed in non-metastatic cells, can induce invasive activity in vivo. At least two isoforms of SATB1 are known to exist.

Catalog Number: (10268-696)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Binds to DNA, at nuclear matrix- or scaffold-associated regions. Thought to recognize the sugar-phosphate structure of double-stranded DNA. Transcription factor controlling nuclear gene expression, by binding to matrix attachment regions (MARs) of DNA and inducing a local chromatin-loop remodeling. Acts as a docking site for several chromatin remodeling enzymes and also by recruiting corepressors (HDACs) or coactivators (HATs) directly to promoters and enhancers. Required for the initiation of the upper-layer neurons (UL1) specific genetic program and for the inactivation of deep-layer neurons (DL) and UL2 specific genes, probably by modulating BCL11B expression. Repressor of Ctip2 and regulatory determinant of corticocortical connections in the developing cerebral cortex. May play an important role in palate formation. Acts as a molecular node in a transcriptional network regulating skeletal development and osteoblast differentiation.

Description: STAG3 is a meiosis specific component of cohesin complex. The cohesin complex is required for the cohesion of sister chromatids after DNA replication. The cohesin complex apparently forms a large proteinaceous ring within which sister chromatids can be trapped. At anaphase, the complex is cleaved and dissociates from chromatin, allowing sister chromatids to segregate. The meiosis-specific cohesin complex probably replaces mitosis specific cohesin complex when it dissociates from chromatin during prophase I.

Description: STAG2, also named as SA2, is a component of cohesin complex, a complex required for the cohesion of sister chromatids after DNA replication. The cohesin complex may play a role in spindle pole assembly during mitosis. Mutations in STAG2 appear to be a first step in the transformation of a normal cell into a cancer cell.

Description: Epigenetic modifications and dynamic changes in chromatin organization by organizer proteins have recently been shown to play an instrumental role in regulating cancer-promoting genes. Special AT-rich binding protein (SATB1) is a unique type of global regulator that integrates higher-order chromatin organization -withregulation of gene expression. SATB1 is a T cell-enriched transcription factor and a chromatin organizer essential for controlling genes that participate in T-cell development and activation. It regulates gene expression by periodically anchoring matrix attachment regions to the nuclear matrix and directly recruiting chromatin-modifying factors. Depending on its posttranslational modifications, SATB1 activates or represses multiple genes. Its expression is regulated by interleukin-4 (IL4) during T helper-2(Th2) cell differentiation.
