Description: Clusterin is the first identified extracellular mammalian chaperone and appears to be implicated in such diverse processes as sperm maturation, regulation of complement activation, programmed cell death, tissue remodelling and lipid transport. Increases in clusterin mRNA and protein have been consistently detected in apoptotic cell death paradigms, establishing clusterin gene expression as a prominent marker of apoptotic cell loss. A dual role has been shown for clusterin in that cells can be protected from damage and dead cells can be more easily removed after some types of cellular damage.

Description: Strumpellin is a ubiquitously expressed, multi-transmembrane and spectrin-repeat-containing protein. It is named for Strumpell disease; a progressive upper-motor neurodegenerative disease termed hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). The Strumpellin gene maps to the eighth HSP locus (SPG8) on chromosome 8p24.13. Three families liked to this locus have mutations in the Strumpellin gene; rescue studies of zebrafish with decreased Strumpellin expression with Strumpellin mRNA containing these mutations showed impaired normal function of this protein. Recent studies suggest that Strumpellin may also be involved in protein aggregation diseases.

Description: EIF5A2 is a member of the eIF-5A family. It is a 153 amino acids protein that in humans is encoded by the EIF5A2 gene. EIF5A2 is expressed in ovarian and colorectal cancer cell lines and highly expressed in testis. It has an important function at the level of mRNA turnover and mediates effects of polyamines on neuronal process extension and survival. It plays an important role in brain development and function, and in skeletal muscle stem cell differentiation.

Description: Inhibits signal transduction by increasing the GTPase activity of G protein alpha subunits thereby driving them into their inactive GDP-bound form. May play a role in leukemogenesis. Plays a role in negative feedback control pathway for adenylyl cyclase signaling. Binds EIF2B5 and blocks its activity, thereby inhibiting the translation of mRNA into protein.

Description: The CCR4-NOT complex is an evolutionarily conserved, multi-component complex known to be involved in transcription as well as mRNA degradation. Various subunits within the complex are involved in influencing nuclear hormone receptor activities. The CCR4-NOT complex is also involved in the regulation of Histone H3 lysine 4 methylation through a ubiquitin-dependent pathway that likely involves the proteasome. CNOT8 (CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 8), also known as CALIF or POP2, is a 292 amino acid protein that localizes to both the nucleus and the cytoplasm and functions as part of the CCR-NOT complex. Expressed ubiquitously, CNOT8 plays a role in transcriptional regulation for a diverse set of processes.

Description: HNRPF belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA binding proteins and they complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene has three repeats of quasi-RRM domains that bind to RNAs which have guanosine-rich sequences. Description: GEMIN4, also named as P97, is a sub-unit of SMN complex. The SMN complex plays a catalyst role in the assembly of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs). It plays an important role in the splicing of cellular pre-mRNAs. The express amount of GEMIN4 is about 8.79 ppm (http://pax-db.org/#!protein/984742). This antibody detects 97-110 kDa GEMIN4.

Description: SKI8 is a component of the PAF and SKI complex which is composed of SKI2, SKI3 and SKI8. These are involved in transcriptional regulation and events downstream of RNA synthesis. Interaction of the SKI complex with SKI7 links the SKI complex to the exosome in order to perform mRNA degradation. Anti-SKI8 Antibody is ideal for research in Gene Expression.

Description: Transcriptional activator binding to the E-box 1 core sequence of the E-cadherin promoter gene; the core-binding sequence is 5'CAGGTG-3'. Capable of reversing CTBP1-mediated transcription repression. Component of a splicing-dependent multiprotein exon junction complex (EJC) deposited at splice junction on mRNAs. The EJC is a dynamic structure consisting of a few core proteins and several more peripheral nuclear and cytoplasmic associated factors that join the complex only transiently either during EJC assembly or during subsequent mRNA metabolism. Participates in the regulation of alternative pre-mRNA splicing. Associates to spliced mRNA within 60 nt upstream of the 5'-splice sites. Involved in the establishment and maintenance of epithelia cell-cell adhesion. Potential tumor suppressor for renal cell carcinoma.
