Description: BDNF is a member of the NGF family of neurotrophic growth factors. Like other members of this family, BDNF supports neuron proliferation and survival. BDNF can bind to a low affinity cell surface receptor called LNGFR, which also binds other neurotrophins such as NGF, NT-3 and NT-4. However, BDNF mediates its neurotrophic properties by signaling through a high affinity cell surface receptor called gp145/trkB. BDNF is expressed as the C-terminal portion of a 247 amino acid polypeptide precursor, which also contains a signal sequence of 18 amino acid residues and a propeptide of 110 amino acid residues. Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat BDNF is a 27.0 kDa homodimer of two 120 amino acid subunits linked by strong non-covalent interactions.

Catalog Number: (75969-932)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: This MAb reacts with a protein of 20-30 kDa, identified as PGP 9.5, also known as ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase-1 (UCHL-1). Initially, PGP 9.5 expression in normal tissues was reported in neurons and neuroendocrine cells but later it was found in distal renal tubular epithelium, spermatogonia, Leydig cells, oocytes, melanocytes, prostatic secretory epithelium, ejaculatory duct cells, epididymis, mammary epithelial cells, Merkel cells, and dermal fibroblasts. Furthermore, immunostaining for PGP 9.5 has been shown in a wide variety of mesenchymal neoplasms as well. A mutation in PGP 9.5 gene is believed to cause a form of Parkinson's disease.

Catalog Number: (89416-938)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: PCDH18 Antibody: Protocadherins comprise the largest group within the cadherin family of calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules. Protocadherin 18 (PCDH18) was initially identified through screening of human and mouse ESTs using conserved cytoplasmic domain motifs. Tissue screening revealed PCDH18 broad expression in tissues such as brain, liver, heart, kidney, lung, and trachea. PCDH18 expression is also temporally and spatially regulated in the mouse embryonic brain and interacts with Disabled-1, an intracellular adapter protein involved in neuronal migration and cell positioning during mammalian brain development. PCDH18 was also found to be expressed in the developing zebrafish neural tube and central nervous system, lending support to the hypothesis that PCDH18 may play a role during brain development.

CF® dyes are Biotium's next-generation fluorescent dyes. CF®405S is a blue fluorescent dye (Ex/Em 404/431 nm) with superior brightness compared to other blue dyes; it is also compatible with super-resolution imaging by SIM. Note: Conjugates of blue fluorescent dyes are not recommended for detecting low abundance targets, because blue dyes have lower fluorescence and can give higher non-specific background than other dye colors.

Description: Aβ 1-42, 42-residue fragment of amyloid precursor protein, has been found to be a major constituent of the senile plaques formed in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease and late Down's syndrome. Aβ 1-42 readily forms neurotoxic oligomers at physiological pH. On the other hand, the peptide shows antimicrobial activity. The sequence of H-1368 corresponds to the human, bovine, canine, feline, ovine, guinea pig, and rabbit Aβ42 peptide. The peptide has been used to detect amyloid β-protein multimers in the cerebrospinal fluid of Alzheimer's disease patients through fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. For detailed descriptions of the preparation of Aβ 1-42 monomers and protofibrils please see the papers of Jan, Hartley, and Lashuel, Stine et al. (2011), and of Broersen and colleagues. The findings of Ryan et al. indicate that 10% ammonia disaggregates Aβ42 more efficiently than HFIP.
