Description: Early Growth Response Protein 1 (EGR1, Krox-24 protein, nerve growth factor-induced protein A, Transcription factor ETR103, Zinc finger protein 225) belongs to the EGR family of C2H2-type zinc-finger proteins. It is a nuclear protein and functions as a transcriptional regulator. The products of target genes it activates are required for differentitation and mitogenesis. Studies suggest this is a cancer suppresor gene. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the EGR family of C2H2-type zinc-finger proteins. It is a nuclear protein and functions as a transcriptional regulator. The products of target genes it activates are required for differentitation and mitogenesis. Studies suggest this is a cancer suppresor gene. Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Entrez Gene record to access additional publications.

Description: The GDNF-inducible zinc finger protein 1 (GZF1) is a sequence-specific transcriptional repressor with a BTB/POZ domain and ten zinc finger motifs whose expression is required for renal branching morphogenesis during kidney development. GZF1 binds to the 5'regulatory region of the homeodomain protein HOXA10, suggesting that GZF1 may play a role in morphogenesis other than kidney development. Recent experiments have indicated that GZF1 associates with nucleolin and this association is mediated by the first four zinc finger motifs of GZF1. It is thought that Nucleolin modulates the subcellular localization of GZF1 as well as its transcriptional repressor activity.

Description: The tripartite motif (TRIM) family of proteins are characterized by a conserved TRIM domain that includes a coiled-coil region, a B-box type zinc finger, one RING finger and three zinc-binding domains. TRIM7 (tripartite motif-containing 7), also known as RNF90 or GNIP, is a 511 amino acid protein that belongs to the TRIM family and contains one RING-type zinc finger, one B box-type zinc finger and one SPRY domain. Expressed in placenta and skeletal muscle and present at lower levels in brain, heart and pancreas, TRIM7 localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus where it exists as dimers and is thought to participate in the initiation of glycogen synthesis. Multiple isoforms of TRIM7 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description: ZIP11, also known as Slc39A11, is a member of the broader ZIP family of multi-transmembrane domain metal ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. Members of the ZIP family generally transport metal ions from the cell exterior or lumen of intracellular organelles into the cytoplasm, as opposed to the ZnT (SLC30) family of zinc transporters that serve to reduce intracellular zinc availability by promoting zinc efflux from cells or into intracellular vesicles. At least three isoforms of ZIP11 are known to exist.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: The tripartite motif (TRIM) family of proteins are characterized by a conserved TRIM domain that includes a coiled-coil region, a B-box type zinc finger, one RING finger and three zinc-binding domains. TRIM17 (tripartite motif-containing 17), also known as RBCC, terf or RNF16, is a 477 amino acid protein that contains one RING-type zinc finger, one SPRY domain and one B box-type zinc finger. Expressed nearly exclusively in testis, TRIM17 belongs to the TRIM family and, based on its functional domains, may play a role in transcriptional regulation events. The gene encoding TRIM17 maps to human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 houses a large number of disease-associated genes, including those that are involved in familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson?s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are found in a variety of cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma and multiple myeloma.
