Description: SGK1 is a protein kinase that plays an important role in cellular stress response. SGK1 activates certain potassium, sodium, and chloride channels, suggesting an involvement in the regulation of processes such as cell survival, neuronal excitability, and renal sodium excretion. Sustained high levels of SGK1 and activity may contribute to conditions such as hypertension and diabetic nephropathy. This protein also mediates cell survival signals, as it has been shown to phosphorylate and negatively regulate the pro apoptotic FOXO3A protein. Ser 422 is a critical site on the protein and may be involved in its activation.

Description: Iron metabolism is essential for sustaining mammalian homeostasis. Iron uptake and distribution is a highly regulated process in mammalian cells that is monitored by two iron sensing proteins; iron regulatory protein-1 and -2 (IRP-1 and -2), also known as iron responsive element-binding protein-1 and -2 (IRE–BP-1 and -2) or aconitase 1 and 2. IRP-1 and IRP-2 are important soluble regulatory factors that mediate iron uptake and storage in mammalian cells. They are capable of either repressing translation or enhancing mRNA stability by associating with stem-loop motifs known as iron-responsive elements (IREs). IRPs respond to stress mediators, iron concentration and signaling factors, including nitrogen monoxide, cytokines and hydrogen peroxide.

Description: CD27 Ligand, a type II transmembrane protein, is a member of the TNF superfamily. It is expressed on activated T and B lymphocytes as well as NK cells. CD27L and its receptor (CD27) regulate the immune response by promoting T-cell expansion and differentiation, as well as NK enhancement. CD27 signaling can act as a co-stimulatory effector to sustain the survival of CD8+ T cells, primarily by inducing increased expression of the IL-2 gene. Full length human CD27L is a 193 amino acid protein, consisting of a 17 amino acid cytoplasmic domain, a 21 amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 155 amino acid extracellular domain. Human soluble CD27L corresponds to the 155 amino acid extracellular domain of the full length CD27L protein. ProSci’s recombinant human sCD27L contains the extracellular domain plus an N-terminal His-Tag.

Description: SIRT7 Antibody: The Silent Information Regulator (SIR2) family of genes are highly conserved from prokaryotes to eukaryotes and have important functions in the regulation of metabolism, growth and differentiation, inflammation, cellular survival, as well as in senescence and lifespan extension. Sirtuins, including SIRT1-7, are human homologs of yeast Sir2p. Sirtuins are NAD+-dependent histone/protein deacetylases (HDAC) which regulate cellular metabolism, e.g. energy metabolism, and thereby are associated with aging and several age-related diseases. SIRT7 is a nucleolar protein that positively regulates RNA polymerase I transcription and has been postulated to enable cells to sustain critical functions by inhibiting cell growth under severe stress conditions.

Description: Purines are critical for energy metabolism, cell signaling and cell reproduction and also function as precursors for coenzymes, energy transfer molecules, regulatory factors and proteins involved in RNA and DNA synthesis. GART (GAR transformylase), also referred to as AIRS, GARS, PAIS, PGFT, PRGS or GARTF, is 1,010 amino acids in length and is a key folate-dependent trifunctional enzyme with phosphoribosylglycinamide formyltransferase, phosphoribosylglycinamide synthetase and AICAR (phosphoribosylaminoimidazole synthetase) activity required for de novo purine biosynthesis. Cancer cells require considerable amounts of purines to sustain their accelerated growth and GART is, therefore, a target for cancer chemotherapy. GART is highly conserved in vertebrates. Two isoforms of GART are expressed due to alternative splicing events.

Description: Glut4 is a twelve pass transmembrane protein (12TM) whose carboxy-terminus may dictate its cellular localization. Aberrant Glut4 expression has been suggested to contribute to such maladies as obesity and diabetes. Glut4 null mice have shown that while functional Glut4 protein is not required for maintaining normal glucose levels, it is necessary for sustained growth, normal cellular glucose, fat metabolism and prolonged longevity. TUG (ASPL in humans) regulates the trafficking of glucose via Glut4. Full-length TUG forms a complex with Glut4 and in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and this complex is present in unstimulated cells and is disassembled by insulin. TUG acts by trapping endocytosed Glut4 and tethering it intracellularly. Insulin mobilizes this pool of retained Glut4 by releasing the tether.
