Description: CD99 is a cell surface glycoprotein involved in leukocyte migration, T-cell adhesion, ganglioside GM1 and transmembrane protein transport, and T-cell death by a caspase-independent pathway. In addition, it may have the ability to rearrange the actin cytoskeleton and may also act as an oncosuppressor in osteosarcoma. Cyclophilin A binds to CD99 and may act as a signaling regulator of the protein. [Wiki]

Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors. The E2F family plays a crucial role in the control of cell cycle and action of tumor suppressor proteins. It is also a target of the transforming proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. The E2F proteins contain several evolutionally conserved domains found in most members of the family. These domains include a DNA binding domain, a dimerization domain which determines interaction with the differentiation regulated transcription factor proteins (DP), a transactivation domain enriched in acidic amino acids, and a tumor suppressor protein association domain which is embedded within the transactivation domain. This protein binds to all three of the tumor suppressor proteins pRB, p107 and p130, but with higher affinity to the last two. It also plays an important role in the suppression of proliferation-associated genes, and its gene mutation and increased expression may be associated with human cancer.

Description: Bid is a death agonist that heterodimerizes with either agonist BAX or antagonist BCL2. Bid is a member of the BCL-2 family of cell death regulators. It is a mediator of mitochondrial damage induced by caspase-8 (CASP8); CASP8 cleaves this encoded protein, and the COOH-terminal part translocates to mitochondria where it triggers cytochrome c release.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: This gene encodes a protein which is part of the ubiquinol-cytochrome c oxidoreductase complex which contains ten nuclear-encoded and one mitochondrial-encoded subunits. The encoded protein binds ubiquinone and participates in the transfer of electrons when ubiquinone is bound. Mutations in this gene are associated with mitochondrial complex III deficiency. A pseudogene has been described on the X chromosome.

Description: Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature assigned to the olfactory receptor genes and proteins for this organism is independent of other organisms.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: Required for high-affinity binding to nerve growth factor (NGF), neurotrophin-3 and neurotrophin-4/5 but not brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Known substrates for the Trk receptors are SHC1, PI 3-kinase, and PLC-gamma-1. Has a crucial role in the development and function of the nociceptive reception system as well as establishment of thermal regulation via sweating. Activates ERK1 by either SHC1- or PLC-gamma-1-dependent signaling pathway.

Description: TNF-β is a potent mediator of inflammatory and immune responses. It belongs to the TNF family of ligands and signals through TNFR1 and TNFR2. TNF-β is produced by activated T and B lymphocytes, and has similar activities to TNF-alpha. Like TNF-α, TNF-β is involved in the regulation of various biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, coagulation, and neurotransmission. TNF-β is secreted as a soluble polypeptide, but can form heterotrimers with lymphotoxin-β, which effectively anchors the TNF-β to the cell surface. TNF-β is cytotoxic to a wide range of tumor cells. Recombinant human TNF-β is a secreted 171 amino acid protein (18.6 kDa) which forms an active non-disulfide linked homotrimer structure in solution.

Description: FRMPD1 Antibody: The FERM and PDZ domain containing (FRMPD) protein family consists of four proteins that contain a FERM (Four-point-one, erzin, radixin, moesin) domain and at least one PDZ (PSD-95/Discs large/Zonula-occuldens-1) domain. FRMPD1 was initially identified through a yeast two-hybrid screening with Activator of G-protein signaling 3 (AGS3), a protein that acts to stabilize the GDP-bound conformation of Gai, as the bait. FRMPD1 binds to the tetratricopeptide repeat of AGS3 and stabilizes AGS3 in a membrane environment. Suppression of FRMPD1 in Cath.a-differentiated neuronal cells decreased the level of endogenous AGS3 in membrane fractions by ~50% and enhanced the inhibition of forskolin-induced increases in cAMP. Co-immunoprecipitation studies indicate that the interaction of AGS3 with FRMPD1 is mutually exclusive with the interaction of AGS3 with Gai3, suggesting that FRMPD1 may position AGS3 in the membrane where it can then interact with Galphai.
