Catalog Number: (IC10203780)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) is the most common, naturally-occurring, plant growth regulator - as a principal auxin of higher plants. It is the best known of the auxins, and has been the subject of extensive studies by plant physiologists. Chemically, IAA is a carboxylic acid in which the carboxyl group is attached through a methylene group to the C-3 position of an indole ring.

Description: Lecithin from Soy, Refined, is a natural mixture of phospholipids consisting of phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, and phosphatidyl inositol. In soybean lecithin the predominant fatty acid is polyunsaturated linoleic acid, amounting to about 70% of the fatty acids present.
Lecithin is used for preparation of vesicle suspensions commonly called liposomes or as monolayers.
A major structural phospholipid in brain, comprising approx. 15% of total lipid; primarily localized to gray matter.

SDS

Catalog Number: (IC10289180)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Sodium azide used as a preservative for laboratory reagents; a bacteriostatic agent in storage solutions. Inhibits gram negative flora so is therefore included in culture media for the selective isolation of Streptococci and Staphylococci. It has been used to avoid bacterial contamination during RPC-5 column chromatography of DNA fragments.
Catalyst for:
• Oxidative decarboxylation
• Michael addition reactions
Reagent for synthesis of
• Blue fluorescent copolymers
• Metal phosphonates
• Arenes via aminations
Involved in regioselective synthesis of prianosin B
It is also a useful probe reagent, mutagen, and preservative. In hospitals and laboratories, it is a biocide (A biocide is a chemical substance or microorganism which can deter, render harmless, or exert a controlling effect on any harmful organism by chemical or biological means.)
Sodium Azide is an inhibitor of peroxidase, myeloperoxidase, superoxide dismutase, galactose oxidase, catalase, haemoprotein enzymes and O2 evolution in photosynthesis. The mechanism of its inhibition and toxicity may be due to metal ion complexation and displacement from enzyme.

Catalog Number: (IC10151680)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Dextran sulfate is a polyanionic derivative of dextran produced by esterification of Dextran with chlorosulphonic acid. The sulfur content is approximately 17% which corresponds to an average of 1.9 sulfate groups per glucosyl residue of the dextran molecule. Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) is the sodium salt which is a white to off-white powder freely soluble in water and salt solutions to form a stable, clear solution. The high purity and reproducible quality enables its application in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industry.

Catalog Number: (IC10049380)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Coenzyme A is an essential cofactor in enzymatic acetyl transfer reactions. The principal biologically active forms of pantothenic acid are coenzyme A (CoA) and acyl carrier protein (ACP). In CoA, the business center of the molecule is the pantothenic acid metabolite 4'-phosphopantetheine. Coenzyme A is comprised of 4'-phosphopantetheine linked by an anhydride bond to the nucloetide adenosine 5'-monophosphate. 4'-Phosphopantetheine itself is comprised of pantothenic acid linked at one end, via an amide bond, to beta-mercaptoethylamine, derived from L-cysteine, and at the other end to a phosphate group. The sulfhydryl group of 4'-phosphopantetheine, which is the business end of the coenzyme, forms thioesters with acyl groups producing acyl-CoA derivatives, including acetyl-CoA.
Coenzyme A facilitates removal of lipid peroxides by increasing mobilization of fatty acids, and promote repair of plasma membranes by activating phospholipid synthesis.
