Catalog Number: (10459-162)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: RuBisCO catalyzes two reactions: the carboxylation of D-ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate, the primary event in carbon dioxide fixation, as well as the oxidative fragmentation of the pentose substrate in the photorespiration process. Both reactions occur simultaneously and in competition at the same active site.Sequence similarities: Belongs to the RuBisCO large chain family. Type I subfamily.Post-translational modifications: The disulfide bond which can form between Cys-247 in the large chain dimeric partners within the hexadecamer appears to be associated with oxidative stress and protein turnover (By similarity). The disulfide bonds reported in 1RBO may be the result of oxidation during crystallization.

Description: GOX is a 370 amino acid protein that is expressed in liver and pancreas. HAO1 is localized to peroxisomes and aids in organic acid metabolism via 2-hydroxyacid oxidase activity. 2-hydroxyacid oxidases, such as HAO1, are enzymes that require a flavin cofactor to oxidize 2-hydroxyacids to 2-ketoacids while reducing oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. HAO1 prefenentially oxidizes the substrate glycolate and also oxidizes other substrates, including 2-hydroxy fatty acids as well as L-?hydroxy acids of moderately short chain lengths. The oxidation of glycolate yields glyoxylate which is utilized for peroxisomal synthesis of glycine. HAO1 is also able to convert glyoxylate to oxalate. HAO1 is thought to play a role in the pathophysiology of hyperoxaluria type 1, which is caused by defects in AGXT, a peroxisomal enzyme, leading to accumulation of glyoxylate. Hyperoxaluria type 1 is characterized by an accumulation of oxalate that is thought to lead to precipitates of calcium oxalate in kidneys which can be fatal.

Catalog Number: (76101-548)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Receptor that mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. OxLDL is a marker of atherosclerosis that induces vascular endothelial cell activation and dysfunction, resulting in pro-inflammatory responses, pro-oxidative conditions and apoptosis. Its association with oxLDL induces the activation of NF-kappa-B through an increased production of intracellular reactive oxygen and a variety of pro-atherogenic cellular responses including a reduction of nitric oxide (NO) release, monocyte adhesion and apoptosis. In addition to binding oxLDL, it acts as a receptor for the HSP70 protein involved in antigen cross-presentation to naive T-cells in dendritic cells, thereby participating in cell-mediated antigen cross-presentation. Also involved in inflammatory process, by acting as a leukocyte-adhesion molecule at the vascular interface in endotoxin-induced inflammation. Also acts as a receptor for advanced glycation end (AGE) products, activated platelets, monocytes, apoptotic cells and both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria (By similarity).

Supplier: Bioss
Description: DDAH, a dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase, hydrolyzes dimethyl arginine (ADMA) and monomethyl arginine (MMA), both inhibitors of nitric oxide synthases, and may be involved in in-vivo modulation of nitric oxide production (1,2). Impairment of DDAH causes ADMA accumulation and a reduction in cGMP generation (3). DDAH II, the predominant DDAH isoform in endothelial cells, facilitates the induction of nitric oxide synthesis by all-trans-Retinoic acid (atRA) (4). DDAH proteins are highly expressed in colon, kidney, stomach and liver tissues (1).
