Description: Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against mycoplasma, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic complex produced by fermentation of Micromonospora purpurea or M. echinospora. It is a mixture of 3 major components designated as C1 (C21H43N5O7), C1a (C19H39N5O), and C2 (C20H41N5O7). Gentamicin is used as the sulfate salt. Each component consists of five basic nitrogens and requires five equivalents of sulfuric acid per mole of gentamicin base. Gentamicin sulfate is a broad spectrum antibiotic. It inhibits the growth of a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including strains resistant to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, kanamycin, and colistin, particularly strains of Pseudomonas, Proteus, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus. It is effective against mycoplasma as well.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Kanamycin sulfate is an antimicrobial agent effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma. It binds to the 70S ribosomal subunit, inhibits translocation, and elicits miscoding. Cross-resistance occurs between kanamycin and neomycin, framycetin, and paromomycin, and partial cross-resistance has been reported between kanamycin and streptomycin. Aminoglycosidemodifying enzymes (acetyltransferase, phosphotransferase, nucleotidyltransferase) alter the antibiotic, preventing its interaction with ribosomes.
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Ciprofloxacin is a fluorinated quinolone antibacterial agent which is highly effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria and mycoplasma.
Ciprofloxacin is most commonly used to treat infections of the skin, bone, sinus, lung, abdomen, and bladder. It can also be used to treat some sexually transmitted infections. Additionally, ciprofloxacin can be used after exposure to inhalation anthrax to reduce the chance of developing an infection.
During the proliferation phase of a bacterium a segmental twisting and untwisting of the chromosomes take place. An enzyme called DNA gyrase plays a decisive part in this process. Ciprofloxacin inhibits this DNA gyrase in a way that arrests the bacterial metabolism, since vital information can no longer be read from the bacterial chromosome. Ultimately, it affect DNA replication & cell division.
