Description: Bcl9L, a homolog of Bcl9, was initially identified through a bioinformatics screening. It is expressed in fetal brain, adult lung, eye and prostate, in addition to several types of tumors including pancreatic and prostate cancers. Bcl9L has been shown to interact with beta-catenin, a target of the Wnt signaling pathway, and is required for enhanced beta-catenin-T-cell factor (TCF)-mediated transcription in colorectal tumor cells, possibly by translocating beta-catenin to the nucleus. Other studies have indicated that Bcl9L expression correlates with high nuclear grade cancer phenotype and the expression of ErbB2/HER-2 in breast cancers, suggesting that activity may occur in other types of cancer. Bcl9L has also been shown to be critical for Wnt-mediate regulation of stem cell traits in colon epithelium and adenocarcinomas which are associated with tumor invasion, metastasis, and resistance to therapy.

Description: Stella was initially identified in primordial germ cells and pre-implantation embryos whose expression as a maternal factor is important in early embryonic development but is not required for germ cell specification in mice. In humans, Stella is thought to be a marker for pluripotency in embryonic stem (ES) cells as its expression is observed in primordial germ cells of both sexes and germ cell tumors but not in normal somatic tissues. However, in ES cell colonies, heterogeneous expression of Stella was seen in high throughput in situ hybridization assays, indicating that higher levels of complexity exist in otherwise thought to be undifferentiated ES cells. At least two distinct isoforms of Stella are known to exist.

Description: Adiponection antibody detects human adiponectin. Adipose tissue of an organism plays a major role in regulating physiologic and pathologic processes such as metabolism and immunity by producing and secreting a variety of bioactive molecules termed adipokines. One highly conserved family of adipokines is adiponectin/ACRP30 and its structural and functional paralogs, the C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1-7. Unlike the CTRPs, which are expressed in a wide variety of tissues, adiponectin is reported to be expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes. These proteins are thought to act mainly on liver and muscle tissue to control glucose and lipid metabolism. An analysis of the crystal structure of adiponectin revealed a structural and evolutionary link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, suggesting that these proteins arose from a common ancestral innate immunity gene. It is present in high levels in normal human plasma, but is reduced in obese subjects and often in those with increased insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, suggesting that adiponectin may be a useful pharmacological target in various metabolic diseases. Anti-Adiponectin antibodies are ideal for investigators involved in glucose engery metabolism and apolipoprotein research.
