Triethanolamine, Reagent is a is colorless organic compound that has a viscous texture and is both a tertiary amine and a triol. It is mainly used as an emulsifier and a surfactant. It neutralizes fatty acids while adjusting and buffering the pH. It is used in the fabrication of cosmetics and medicine such as ear drops, skin lotions, eye gels, shampoos and others. It also has a use in the laboratory as a complexing agent for aluminum ions in aqueous solutions. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
