For determining crude fiber in feed, food, and other agricultural products
Determinations involve placing any of 6 sample beakers on heaters, raising beaker to condenser and holding beaker to condenser with a spring. A stainless steel inverted cone condenser base directs condensate along the sides of beaker to wash down froth and fiber adhering to sides. Adjustable temperature control helps minimize frothing. Cooling water circulates through a rigid system; eliminates the need for dangling hoses. Each of the six stations has individual temperature control, on/off switch, pilot light, and safety disconnect switch box. Crude fiber extractor frame is constructed of anodized aluminum. Includes six 350W heaters operated by individual infinite-control knobs with variable input from 20–100% capacity. A 3/8" IPS (International Pipe Standard) control valve on the upper left side is for connection to a water source. A 3/8" IPS water outlet on the upper right side is for connection to an open drain of at least 1/2" IPS.
Oklahoma filter accessory is designed for use with suction. Stainless steel funnel has a threaded cap that holds a 200-mesh stainless steel screen against a perforated stainless steel back-up plate. Machined smooth, minimizes fiber loss.
California Buchner funnel accessory is a standard polyethylene Buchner funnel with a 200-mesh stainless steel screen heat sealed into the bottom of the upper section.
For AOAC® methods.
Also for reflux digestions. Weight of crude fiber is determined by simulating the digestive process. Samples are boiled in acid, washed, boiled in alkali, and washed again. Loss upon ignition provides a measure of crude fiber.
