Protein Purification Protein Purification Reagents

Aquacides are useful for concentration of proteins and other macromolecules and can be used for rapid removal of water from dialysis tubing by using either a 2% syrup or the aquacide solid. Aquacides neither denature proteins nor change the pH during concentration. At room temperature 1 g of aquacide absorbs about 5 ml of water from solution in 1 h.

Aquaside II, sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose has extremely high viscosity and contains an average of 0.85 carboxymethyl groups per anhydroglucose unit.

Aquaside III, flake polyethylene glycol has water-adsorptive properties and a solubility of 50% by weight at 20 °C.
