Calcium chloride is useful in preparing competent bacteria. Calcium chloride dihydrate was used in the preparation of calcium-alginate beads. It was used to compose the medium for Thermophilic Clostridia (MTC). It may be used for the concentration of virus vectors in a protocol. Store at Room Temperature (15-30 °C). Store Desiccated. Physical Appearance: White Powder Solubility: Soluble in water with heat liberation, ethanol, acetic acid, acetone. pH: 4.5-9.2 (5% aq soln) Heavy Metals: ≤0.001%
