Solid supported equivalent of benzaldehyde particularly effective in scavenging primary amines.
Aldehyde Resin, PS, is a highly cross-linked polystyrene resin functionalized with an aldehyde end group. It is a polymer bound equivalent of benzaldehyde, and is highly capable of scavenging excess amines from reaction media. This product has significant advantages over other scavengers of amines in that it’s fully capable of distinguishing between primary and secondary amines. Isocyanate resin is equally proficient in sequestering either, so reactions that contain both moieties are dealt with more effectively with PS-Aldehyde.
